Our Community Service Connections:

Children's Network of Stark County
As I was looking for a group that could benefit from our Auxiliary, I came upon the Children's Network. "This Network provides county-wide services to those children and non-offending family members who are sexually and physically abused, witness violence and are involved in Meth cases."   This facility is housed with the Prosecuting Attorney's office, located on Market Ave. , above Fedeli's Restaurant.  In this building, these children meet with child protective services, prosecution, medical, mental health, juvenile probation and victim advocates.  The contact person in charge there is Paul Smith.  We are currently working with her to make this 'system' easier on the children.   We hope you feel, as we did, that this Children's Network is well worth our donations, whether time-wise or monetarily.   Lori Richards, Vice President.

PAL Mission
Last year, Stacy Kelly connected our auxiliary to the PAL Mission , which houses and assists, young girls who learn life skills before moving out on their own.  The age range of these girls is 18-21 and they have come to the mission, ‘emancipated from foster care and/or find themselves homeless.'  The SCMSA has donated comforters, dishes, and collections from our last fashion show to improve the living conditions for these young women.  The Program Manager here is Stacy Lawrence and I have been in contact with her for ideas to support them again this year with various projects.

As part of our commitment to the community as a Charitable Organization, we have also recognized the need to continue to support the following with various levels of monetary donations for the 2007-2008 year:

  • SAFE Kids Day
  • American Heart Association
  • Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center of Canton
  • Scholarships for students in the health related fields of study

We also support the AMA-Alliance initiatives through our Internet Safety Campaign (website/brochures) and the newly launched campaign “Smoke Out”, aimed at eradicating smoking in movies geared towards children, through newspaper Editorials.
